BRONZE MEDALIST - THE PRINCIPALITY OF WOODLANDIA

PicturePrince Shawn of Woodlandia
Name: Prince Shawn, Shawn Stoner
Role: Sovereign Prince
Micronation: Principality of Woodlandia
Website: https://sites.google.com/view/principalityofwoodlandia

Tell us a little bit about your micronation: The Principality of Woodlandia originally started out as a previous nation called the Kingdom of Ardania, which claimed a secluded medieval village in North Ontario, Canada in 1999. Since then, the Kingdom has become dormant and in 2019, its surrounding lands were claimed and amalgamated together to create the Principality of Woodlandia as it is today. Woodlandia comprises a small group of like-minded individuals working towards making the world a better place for everyone through peaceful actions and charitable works. Additionally, Woodlandia is a business and tourist destination, actively maintaining a positive presence throughout the micronational community.

Was this your first foray into MicroSports?
Yes! And we are happy to have been a part of it.

What was your main reason for joining up to the MicroOlympics?
We thought it would be a great way to make ourselves more known throughout the micronational community, as well as get to know other nations. Of course the opportunity of winning a medal helped with our decision to join. Who doesn’t like to show off a nice shiny medal?

Did you do much preparation for the Games?
No! The Prince knows absolutely nothing about sports!

Were you planning on winning a medal?
Of Course! Although, as stated before, we are happy to have participated in the event and it wouldn’t have mattered if we won a medal or not.

Do you think you will take part in other MicroSports in the coming year?
Absolutely!

What would you say to other micronations thinking of taking part in a MicroSports event?
We say, why not? It was great fun, and made us feel more connected to not only the community, but also each other within the principality.
