Yesterday's Day 4 was another eventful session on and off the courses – South Korea continue to appeal a penalty against two of their Speed Skaters and the medal ceremony has been postponed in the Figure Skating whilst the Olympic Committee look into drug claims against gold medallists ROC.
And the Winter MicroOlympics? The top three continue to battle for top spot, though its all change in the standing with New Weddington Isles reclaiming the top spot, closely followed by the Principality of Woodlandia who move up to silver and still trail the Isles by a single point. The Kingdom of Scone drop to bronze place in 3rd, but won’t be too worried with only 4 points between the leaders.
The Empire of Lehmark consolidated their 4th spot with a solid day – picking up 2 more golds and 2 silvers. Shedingeh pick up a couple of golds to remain in 5th, with Transnistria (6th) and Hutt River (7th) swapping places in the league.
The Kingdom of Dubast and Begley Commonwealth’s Big Blitz team who stay in the running at 8th and 9th respectively – both gained medals but need golds to advance up the league…
And finally.. the Principality of Vurmond add a gold to their tally, taking them up to 10th! Having relied heavily on the Republic of Korea to win events they’ll be relieved to get points on the table; they will no doubt closely watching the outcome of the contentious Speed Skating penalty against several of its team!
Bringing up the rear in 11th are Arkadelphia and 12th placed placed Confederation Austral of Angosvria: both boasting a silver medal.
Up today we 8 medalling events, plenty more MicroOlympics action to come – every medal counts and at this stage a podium place is still possible for all our teams . In the Olympic spirit I wish all fellow MicroNations good luck!
