Well Day 3 was an eventful session on and off the courses – with South Korea appealing a dubious penalty against two of their team in the Speed Skaters which led the field clear for China to take gold and silver. We’ll be watching the outcome of that one with interest!
On the course GB just missed out on the curling and weather called some medal events to be postponed at the last minute, though snowboarding and speed skating featured. So what does that mean for the MicroOlympics 2022 League?
The top three remain in place though congratulations are due to Kingdom of Scone with 12 golds to their name – a great effort, New Weddington Isles trail them by 6 points based on overall medals, with the Principality of Woodlandia just a point away in bronze place.
The Empire of Lehmark had a good day on the snow, picking up two golds to move from 7th to 4th spot, pushing Shedingeh, Hutt River and Transnistria - all who failed to pick up a gold yesterday - down a place to 5th, 6thand 7th respectively.
An eventful at the other end of the table also, with Kingdom of Dubast picking up a gold to move up a spot to 8th, at the expense of Begley Commonwealth’s Big Blitz team who stay in the running with a silver and bronze, just a point behind Dubast.
The Republic of Arkadelphia stay in 10th place on one medal, with Confederation Austral of Angosvria still in 11thdespite picking up a medal.
And finally.. in 12th place the Principality of Vurmond are off the mark with a bronze! Having tipped heavily of the Republic of Korea to win events they’ll be relieved to get points on the table; but no doubt unhappy about the contentious Speed Skating penalty against several of its team!
Up today we just have 6 medalling events, though some postponed events may happen today also. Remember – every medal counts and at this early stage a podium place is still possible for all our teams 😉. Stay warm!
