THE CASTLE

Picture

The Castle embodies the Weddington Castle that was the centrepiece of the old Manor of Weddington – standing in one form or another for over a thousand years before being demolished in 1928. Whilst now gone, the marble façade is believed to have been shipped to the US and a key goal of the New Weddington Isles is to track this down if it exists and – in the longer term – to reinstate a form of the Castle on the New Weddington Isles themselves.

In the meantime, our nation claims Weddington Castle as a part of our virtual territory with a history and picture gallery at www.weddingtoncastle.co.uk. The State Artefacts Collection also contains a number of relics from the Castle.
