THE BOARD
The chess board is 40cm square with raised edges that mirrors the security of both Castle walls and our Island status. Its edges are inlaid with light and dark strips of mother-of-pearl enclosing a unique chess board design, based upon artwork by Dadaist artist Man Ray, reflecting New Weddington’s commitment to the Arts.
The pieces themselves are mounted on marble cubes of grey, black and white marble, except for the King and Queen figures which are featured on onyx pyramids.
