As predicted, Week 5 has shaken up the league somewhat with strategic decisions and new players starting make an impact. All makes for a more interesting competition and there are bound to be plenty more twists before the final games in week 36!! So even for those at the bottom there is still time to turn things around 😉
On to the Micronations League then – at the top of the table the New Weddington Warriors consolidated their top ranking with an impressive 54 points; though how many transfers have they used already??
Second place sees an massive week for Shedingeh – matching New Weddington on 54 points to climb from 4th to 2nd – on 207 points in the league they’ll be looking to stealing that top spot off the Warriors… Lundenwic Lions ensured they stay in the mix with a decent 30 point haul to keep the 3rd spot, though they are being challenged by a legendary 49 pointer this week by Lehmark FC – boosting them from 6th to 4th place, just 4 points behind the Lions…one to watch in the next few weeks!!
5th place sees a different story, with The Isle of Lithua - paying the price of fielding just three active players - getting a league low of 12 points and dropping down from 2nd place as a result.
Completing the top half of the table we have the United Mathisian Kingdom who drop a place down to 6th; though they will take heart from a decent 36 points and being just one point behind a mis-firing Lithua team.
A good day at the office for the Novascurra Jesters – scoring 45 points to move up a place to 7th (joining the UMK on 173 league points so far), and swapping places with Pikeland Holy Crusaders who registered 20 points to drop to 8th place.
Maslatonia will be pleased with their performance, with 31 points being enough to lift them up from 11th place to a somewhat safer ranking at 9th in the league.
The Principality of Sealand brings in a virtual repeat of week 4, with 27 points enough to keep them in 10th spot; though they are only a point adrift 0f Maslatonia above them, and are on joint 121 league points with Espoona in 11th – down from 9th place a week ago…
…and finally, this week’s wooden spoon goes to H.E.R. Saints. With another low scoring 17 this week the Saints remain stuck at the bottom of the table In 12th – and it’s hard to see them moving up without making some major transfers to replace non-playing players next week!
So there you go, some surprises, some high scores, some low scores and some movement up and down the table… we hope you are enjoying playing in the Micronations League Cup and are keen to build upon microsports offerings. With that in mind I will be sending out a questionnaire in the next month or so, to gain feedback and learning points on this format of competition; so you have been pre-warned!! Another announcement re: the League is coming soon which will hopefully keep things interesting for the MicroLeague teams – watch this space!
