So…back after the international break and how did your team do? Breaking out of lockdown or stuck in point-scoring quarantine??
Top of the league and New Weddington Warriors are clinging to the top spot with a superior goal tally keeping them in first place for now, though the Isle of Lithua are only trailing by 7 points despite yo-yoing up and down the league over the weekend and only fielding FIVE PLAYERS who actually made it onto the pitch – just shows there’s still plenty of time to make up ground, even for those at the lower end of the league. That said, if Lithua had fielded a full squad they would be topping the league by now – time to use some transfers?
In the rest of the top 6 there’s been little movement with Lundenvic Lions, Shedingeh and United Mathisian Kingdom all cementing their places from Round 3. A decent tally of 40 from Shedingeh sees them just one point away from nicking 3rd place off Lundenvic, whilst UMK had a tough weekend and are being closely chased by up and coming mid-table teams Lehmark FC Legends who mov up to 6th place with a decent 32 point haul, with Pikeland Holy Crusader dropping a place to 7th, closely followed by Novascurra Jesters who again put in 30 points to remain in 8th place despite having TWO non-players on the team.
Things are getting interesting at the sharp end of the league too – Espoona put in a great performance adding 37 points to lift them from the bottom of the league to 9th place – hat’s off to Ben Hatly though again, with a few judicious transfers to address the FOUR team members who weren’t included in line ups, the rise could have been even more meteoric!
The Principality of Sealand added 2 goals to their season to cement their 10th spot whilst Maslatonia are paying the price for failing to score so far this season - dropping down from 9th to 11th, joining H.E.R. Saints who are starting to look shaky at the bottom of the league…not surprising consider they only have FOUR players currently starting games… another team who can make up ground but really need to use some transfer to get points on the field.
Just a thought on that, whilst it’s good to keep transfers in hand for injuries, suspensions etc if players are not appearing in games then now is the time to ditch them whilst damage control is still possible – that goes for a number of teams with incomplete squads. You have 40 transfers for the season and 5 per week so I’d urge everyone to just take a few minutes to check squads and see if there is any deadwood that needs replacing. And of course there’s the debate over whether to bring in Ronaldo / Kane / Lukaku just to add to the mix!!
So, that’s it for the week - next round starts Friday 17th September at 20:00 BST. Have a great week all and hope to see some rejuvenated teams in the next round 😊
