So, Week 10 is done and dusted and we’re into November already! But don’t worry – still plenty of football to come before the league ends in May 2022, and no more bad Halloween puns from me 😊 . Anyway, that’s the future, what about the present????
Well, New Weddington Warriors are sticking stubbornly to the top spot for now despite an average score this week, but there’s a few upper league teams snapping at their heels – this week it’s Shedingeh who leapfrog Lundenwic Lions into 2nd place with an impressive 44; leaving the Lions with some work to do as they move down into 3rd…
A legendary performance by Lehmark FC sees them top score this week on 48 points, rewarding them with a move up the ladder to 4th spot – a great recovery from a nightmare week 9. They swap places with The Isle of Lithua who plummet to 6th with a 17 point score – to be honest they are fortunate to be in the position they are in given they seem to have ‘transfer-phobia’ and have been hanging on to non-playing players since the start of the league.
Remaining sandwiched between them on 5th are the Novascurra Jesters, though they are no joke in the league – sitting just 3 points away from fourth in the league…
In the lower half of the league the United Mathisian Kingdom remain the best of the rest and look very likely to cross the 300 points barrier next week, just below them Espoona have made a charge up the league thanks to a fine 44 point tally and a two place gain to 8th.
This comes at the expense of the bottom four, with an average Principality of Sealand dropping to 9th and pushing Pikeland Holy Crusader in the 10th spot vacated by Espoona. However, Pikeland can’t look to others for the blame as they walk away with this week’s wooden spoon, managing just 15 points… that leaves Maslatonia (11th) and H.E.R. Saints (12th) duking it out like a couple of punch drunk boxers who have taken too many early hits… with just 10 out of 36 game weeks to go (plus FA Cup games) there is still time to salvage things but they both need to start getting some blows on target!
Ok, well that’s all from me for now – Southampton play Villa on Friday evening so preview will be out early, but the bulk of the games are Saturday and Sunday. So have a great week all and see you next weekend 😊
