The weekend is over and Monday is here – that can mean only one thing… time for a weekly update on the MicroNational League Cup!
Still topping the table for now is the New Weddington Warriors on a creditable 35 points; but the Lundenwic Lions continue to chip away at their lead with a highest weekly score of 40 and a move up to second place. Trailing them by just 2 points is Shedingeh who drop down to third but do enough this week to join the 400+ club.
Mid table scuffles are notable mainly for some low scores, with only the Lehmark FC Legends managing a score in the 20s to retain their 4th spot. Meanwhile a lacklustre weekend for Novascurra Jesters, The Isle of Lithua and United Mathisisan Kingdom means no drama here with all three unchanged on 5th, 6th and 7th places respectively.
At the lower level of the League it’s a similar story with the 8th to 10th spots all remaining unchanged… Espoona will be a bit miffed, whilst 28 is a good score, they would have been hopeful of another big points haul as they got last week on 44.
Sealand stick in 9th place, despite a disappointing 14 points - they may be looking at using some of those transfers over Christmas if they are going to break into the higher levels of the League… the same goes for Pikeland Holy Crusader whose 20 points this week is enough for them to be able to hand over the dreaded wooden spoon!
Which brings us to the big story of the week – with H.E.R. Saints FINALLY breaking free of the bottom spot… is this the start of a miraculous race to the top of the league in 2022? But someone has to be bottom and propping up the league this week is Maslatonia, who gain the dubious weekly record of being the only team to post a single digit score and a wooden spoon to go with it.
So there you go, largely business as usual with some interesting tussles at both ends of the League.
If you’re scratching your head about where to go from here DON’T PANIC! Next week is another International Break meaning no games in the MicroNations League until 20th November. Time to think about some tactical changes or will you be resting on your laurels for now?
Either way, enjoy the break; thanks for your continued engagement in the League; stay safe and see you on the 20th – and don’t forget there is lot’s more football to be played this season, no matter where you are in the league anything is still possible 😉
