Hello all
Well, hopefully you are all rested up after last weekend’s break from managerial duties. As no points were scored there is no change in the league so you get away without a lengthy update – for now!
That said, the international games did throw up some interesting tidbits for some key League players – Ronaldo did his thing and scored for Portugal, whilst Harry Kane was on the bench for the whole game: being rested or carrying a niggling injury? One to watch.
Chilwell also had a great game for England scoring one and setting Grealish up for his first ever international goal – let’s see if Grealish forgets where the back of the net is again by the time he returns for Man City. And before you get too excited they were playing Andorra; who would probably qualify for entry to the MicroNations League Cup themselves… England play Hungary mid week so let’s see if they can make it two in a row.
Elsewhere Villa’s McGinn impressed with a goal for Scotland to beat Israel, who seem to have taken a wrong turn and ended up in the European qualifiers and a shout out is due to a handful of hardy teams who once again reached the qualifiers despite their status as microstates or even borderline micronations…
The Most Serene Republic of San Marino, a microstate with the smallest population in the competition (33,000) sadly lost 5-0 to Poland – continuing their record of never having won a competitive game. Kosovo went down 3-0 to Sweden – not too bad for a state only partly recognised by Europe and other world nations. And of course we have The Faroe Islands, a tiny archipelago (1,400 sq kilometres) it lies north of Scotland in between Iceland and Norway yet has somehow ended up as a autonomous territory of Denmark! Go figure.
So there you go, turned into a lengthy update after all – and there are more International games today and tomorrow (12th) but I’ll spare you that
Enjoy the rest of the week in all of your endeavours and see you bright and early on 12:30pm (BST) on Saturday 16th October when Watford host Liverpool and the MicroNations League Cup resumes – who needs internationals when you’ve got micronationals anyway ??
Take care and stay safe everyone. Lordship Watitune
