The top half of the MicroNations league sees no change in places for the teams but it’s the points tally that you want to be looking at:
Lundenwic Lions stretch their lead at the top from 1 point to 14 points over New Weddington Warriors who had looked to be safe at the top but have turned in a decidedly ordinary 26 point weekly haul – stymied by the postponed matches perhaps?
Shedingeh in third are adding to NW’s woes with 44 points cutting the difference to just7 points difference; surely contenders for silverware now?
Lehmark FC Legends stick in 4th place but with a raft of 2022 games and rescheduled postponed games, they will be looking at getting in among the contenders later in the season…
Novascurra Jesters remain in 5th but have extended their lead over sixth place Isle of Lithua, who have to take the credit for this widening gap with a woeful 7 point wooden spooner for the week. Perhaps the tactic of not having a tactic or using any transfers is finally catching up with them!
Espoona (seventh) and United Mathisian Kingdom (eighth) both post impressive scores of 47 and 48 points respectively; Espoona stay put but make a big dent in Lithua’s lead over them, and UMK is rewarded with a shift from 9th to 8th place, replacing H.E.R. Saints whose average score of 23 sees them falling behind the mid-table contenders this week.
Again, no change in position at the bottom of the table - Pikeland Holy Crusader stay 10th and miss out on a change to start a climb up the league with a poor 10 points for the week, and in 11th place The Principality of Sealand pass the wooden spoon to Lithua but their 16 points means they are now joint bottom with Maslatonia on 409 points; only taking the 11th spot through goal difference. Talking of goals Maslatonia’s season total of 15 goals compared to league leader Lundenwic Lions’ 38 shows just how important it is to get the ball between the sticks…
So that’s that, but don’t overdo it on NYE – there’s a need for a clear head as the next batch of fixtures takes place on Saturday 1st January at 12.30pm – GMT (UK Time) with Arsenal v Man City.
