Oops! Sorry for the late preview which has belatedly turned into more of a review given my forgetting to update on time – you can blame:
Take your pick!!
Anyway, best get on with it – final scores in brackets where applicable after game listing. More on Tuesday – my alarm is set 😉
Sunday 26th December
Liverpool P-P Leeds United
Match postponed - Other
Wolverhampton Wanderers P-P Watford

Burnley P-P Everton
Match postponed - Other
Manchester City 15:00 Leicester City (6-3 full time)
The first festive fixture is Manchester City v Leicester City at 3pm. Man City won 4-0 last weekend against Newcastle. Walker lacking fitness. Leicester played in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, losing on penalties against Liverpool after being a couple of goals up. Barnes has a knock, Evans, Pereira, Söyüncü and Vardy also doubts.
Norwich City 15:00 Arsenal (0-5 full time)
Norwich City against Arsenal next. Norwich last played on 14th December so will be well rested for this one. Normann, Hanley, Fletcher (sorry Krul) missing for this one. The Gunners played in midweek, winning in the Cup. Martinelli and Smith Rowe (from the bench) have been in good form. Aubameyang probably on the naughty step still.
Tottenham Hotspur 15:00 Crystal Palace (3-0 full time)
Rumours are circulating that this game may be off but is still on as I type. Spurs have had a lot of postponements of late so have a lot of games to catch up on later this season. They did win in the Carabao on Wednesday though. Still no Romero. Palace last played on the 15th, drawing with Southampton 2-2. No new injuries.
West Ham United 15:00 Southampton (2-3 full time)
The last of the 3pm games is West Ham United against Southampton. The Hammers were another team in midweek action, losing 2-1 to Spurs with Bowen on the score sheet. Antonio has Covid, Ogbonna and Zouma injured. Johnson and Cresswell could be back. Southampton last game was on the 15th December. Adams, Armstrong and Forster should all be back in the squad.
Aston Villa 17:30 Chelsea (1-1 as I type)
The early evening game is Aston Villa v Chelsea at Villa Park. Stevie G won't be in the dugout for this one. Villa played last on 14 December, beating Norwich. Nakamba is injured (Marvelous). Chelsea played a Cup match on Wednesday, winning versus Brentford. Injury/illness concerns over Havertz and Christensen. Lukaku and Werner due back.
Brighton & Hove Albion 20:00 Brentford
The late match this Sunday/Boxing Day is Brighton & Hove Albion versus Brentford at the Am Ex. The Seagulls last played on Wednesday 15th. No Dunk or Veltman but Welbeck may be available. Brentford played and lost in midweek. No new injury worries for the Bees, Henry may be fit.
Monday 27th December
Newcastle United 20:00 Manchester United
The solitary Monday night fixture is Newcastle United against Manchester United. The Magpies last played last Sunday, going down 4-0 to Man City. Hayden banned, Shelvey a doubt. 6th place Manchester United last played on Saturday 11th December but their form has improved since Raggy game in. Only Pogba in the injury room.
Next matches are on Tuesday 28th December – look out for review of 26/27 games and preview of matches week beginning 28 – on time this time!!!
- The time difference to Aus
- The confusion with half the league games postponed due to covid
- My ailing brain function
- All of the above
