Nobility and Honours

The Benign Feudal social model of the New Weddington Isles is broadly divided into three strata, with the Lord of the Manor at the apex. Ranking below the Lord are the Noble Class; the Knight Class and the remainder of New Weddingtonians being free people known generally as Citizens.
The acceptance of an individual to the rank of Noble is effected by petition to, or at the discretion of, the Lord of the Manor, at Court Baron; where support or objection may be voiced. Acceptance is considered an honour in itself and a signed certification from the Lord of the Manor is formally presented. The honorific prefix The Honourable is given, thus a Noble may style themselves as The Honourable [Given name], Noble of the New Weddington Isles. They are also entitled for nomination to a civilian decoration for specific and outstanding service to the Manor, and for nomination for the annual New Weddingtonian of the Year Award.
The acceptance of an individual to the rank of Knight is solely at the discretion of the Lord of the Manor. In accepting a Knighthood privilege, the recipient must formally swear to uphold the values and aspirations of the New Weddington Isles and form the first order of defence from without and maintenance of order within both the physical and virtual territories of the New Weddington Isles and its Administrative Consuls, and as defined in this Constitution. Knights will in the first instance be accepted into the chivalric Order of Watitune, with attendant honorific of The Honourable (regardless of gender). Sir is not deemed an acceptable honorific for Knights of the New Weddington Isles. A decoration of the Order of Watitune is provided in the form of medal. Further Chivalric Orders may be instituted and awarded at the discretion of the Lord of the Manor with input from the Court Baron (the decision-making body of the New Weddington Isles). Knights are not entitled for nomination to a civilian decoration but are eligible for nomination for the annual New Weddingtonian of the Year Award. Of all the ranks below the Lord of the Manor, the Knights have sole authority to bear arms within the New Weddington Isles and its territories both physical and virtual, at the direction and sole discretion of the Lord of the Manor. This includes but is not limited to issues of cybersecurity.
No decoration or honorific prefix is given to the remainder of New Weddingtonians being known generally as Citizens. They are however, entitled for nomination to a civilian decoration for specific and outstanding service to the Manor, and for nomination for the annual New Weddingtonian of the Year Award.
