Update on New Weddington Expedition to Australia's highest Mountain

8/7/2021

An update on the planned New Weddington Isles expedition to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko on behalf of Lord Watitune. This is being undertaken as a joint expedition with the Principality of Sealand, who are seeking to fly their flag on the highest peaks on each of the 7 continents (having already conquered three: Everest, Kilimanjaro and Elbrus).

Mount Kosciusko, is mainland Australia's tallest mountain, at 2,228 metres (7,310 ft) above sea level. It is located on the Main Range of the Snowy Mountains in Kosciuszko National Park, part of the Australian Alps National Parks and Reserves, in New South Wales, Australia.

The New Weddington Isles Prime Consul in aliena are currently based in the ACT (Australian Capital Territory). Whilst the ACT and the Isles are fortunate to be Covid free for now; New South Wales, where Kosciuszko is located, still has restrictions in regional areas. This includes a restriction of cross border travel to and from ACT.

As such we have postponed our expedition until restrictions are lifted and the severe winter conditions begin to ease. We hope this will be some time in September. We are watching and checking for updates on these restrictions and are ready to go as soon as the area is opened up again. More updates soon. We thank Prince Michael of Sealand for his support, encouragement and generous donation of an official Sealand flag, which will fly alongside our New Weddington Isles flag.
