The New Weddington Isles and Lord Watitune have been honoured by The Sovereign Municipality of Ameristralia, a self-declared constitutional monarchy and independent micronation within Victoria, Australia.
Ameristralia was initially created as a learning tool to teach children about government and economics in a simulated environment. After the naming of the micronation, the flag was commissioned. On 3 September 2021, Ameristralia declared its independence from Australia.
The Sovereign Municipality of Ameristralia gets its name from the dual citizenship held by the founder, David Brooke who is an American and Australian citizen. As a sovereign micronation with such a small land claim (1216m2), municipality was chosen.
The Christmas List annually confers several honorary titles within it’s Orders. Under this award Lord Watitune is admitted to the Most Honourable and Venerable Order of the Noble Eagle, with the honorific Right Honourable Commander.
Upon receiving the Award, Lord Watitune stated: “Many thanks to His Eminence for the granting of our Award of Right Honourable Commander in Ameristralia's Christmas Honours 2021. We shall add this with pride to our State Honours List. We wish yourself and your micronation all the best for a Happy New Year and a fruitful 2022. Your friend and comrade, Lord Watitune.”
