PROGRESS UPDATE: New Weddington Isles Communal Gardens

2/5/2021

The transformation of our New Weddington Isles Communal Garden continue apace and we hope to have it ready before the winter weather hits!

A hardy group of New Weddingtonians have done a great job of clearing leaves and debris, installing a secure storage area and the inevitable weeding.

Whilst budget has been allocated for contractors to come in and do much of the heavy work, as well as installing self-watering system and planting seasonal bulbs; we have enlisted a local Scout group who will be joining New Weddingtonians over the next few weekends to speed up the process!

Lord Watitune expressed his thanks to the Braddon Scout Group, saying: “it is wonderful to see members of the Canberra community – and of the younger generation – getting involved in this environmental project. We hope sincerely that it will give our future community members and leaders a sense of the joys and importance of nature, as well as a sense of the New Weddington Isles’ core values of equality, community, and achievement through perseverance.”

All participating Scouts will receive a New Weddington gift from Lord Watitune.
