As we look towards the future of the New Weddington Isles, we do not forget the past from which we came. It is for that reason we have, enshrined in Article 7 of our Constitution, a commitment to procure any historic artefacts from the Manor of Old Weddington and its Castle which was demolished back in 1928 (see www.weddingtoncastle.co.uk for more information - this website is considered a Virtual Territory of the New Weddington Isles).
We are delighted to have recently obtained an original antique map dating from the mid-1800s detailing both the old Manor of Weddington and its Castle and Estate buildings. This is currently undergoing professional restoration and framing and should be completed in 3-4 weeks when I shall post high resolution scans of the finished article. Meantime, here are some low resolution images of the document.
These artefacts will be preserved and added to, to form a State Collection to be used for ceremonial and educational purposes as seen fit by the Lord of the Manor.
We currently also have an original horseshoe of around 200 years old excavated by a Weddington resident and gifted to the Lordship Watitune, as well as items items currently negotiating the international postage system. More soon.
