We are delighted to announce the acquisition of a King John silver penny, minted 1205-1216, for the New Weddington Artefacts Collection.
Whilst best known for signing the Magna Carta in 1215 - a famous document granting greater rights to the people of England and the closest the UK has to an official Constitution - King John is relevant to the Old Weddington area as historic records show the Castle there was built on the site of one of King John's Royal Hunting Lodges.
