Micro meets Macro: New Weddington Isles in Joint Venture with Canberra Government, Australia

The New Weddington Isles are delighted to announce that we have finally received our grant from the Canberran Government Community Services team. This is hugely significant to our vision of micronations working not just with each other, but with the local communities and even local macro-Government departments that they co-exist with.

In recognising The New Weddington Isles, the macro Canberra government – Canberra being the Federal Capital of Australia – are actively accepting the legitimacy of our Micronation as a partner in community ventures. We will be using these funds to launch an arts project with local artists working with the Canberran Disabled community to produce a range of portraits. This will culminate in a 2 month public exhibition commencing on International Day of People With Disabilities. We will keep you updated on developments!

New Weddington has also been invited to represent our micronation at the Capital’s National Multicultural Day on 14th March, alongside representatives from macronations around the world. New Weddingtonians will be out in force on the day; wearing New Weddington t-shirts, flying our flag and handing out promotional information for the Isles and micronationalism in general. Again, another meeting of macro and micronational governments and events, laying the foundation of our plans to forge greater links and legitimacy with our host nation.
