To mark International Heraldry Day on June 10th, we are delighted to accept an honorary title and letters patent from close ally The Grand Principality of Lorenzburg.
In accepting this gesture Lord Watitune takes on the rights to use the honorific of Baron Etrangere, John Brookes von Enevann of the New Weddington Isles.
Lord Watitune said of the award: "I am proud to accept this on behalf of the New Weddington Isles and shall bear the rank with pride. The heraldry is magnificent and highly appropriate, especially the rampant bear on sinister - the symbol of our historic manor of Warwickshire back in the UK. We consider the Principality of Lorenzburg to be an exemplar of true micronationalism - realistic yet creative, tolerant, open yet defined, and practically active whilst being so much more than a facebook page and a flag!
"HSH Prince Frei in particular has been an exemplar and an inspiration in our first year of micronational status - thus the awarding to him of our Renewal Day medal - and we look forward to forging even closer ties with the Principality to the benefit of our respective nations and micro nationalism in general. With immense gratitude, Baron Etrangere, Lordship John Brookes von Enevann of the New Weddington Isles."
His Serene Highness Prince Frei added: "On this the tenth day of June, the international heraldry day, it gives me great satisfaction to announce that our very dear friend John Watitune - Lordship of the New Weddington Isles - has been raised to the rank of honorary Baron (étrangére) in the Most Serene Principality of Lorenzburg.
"The inescutcheon is a canting arms - a wordplay on "Watitune" which in Swedish could be rendered (with a lot of imagination) into a combination of water and juniper tree, here in the name "Enevann".
"Vivat the new baron - prosit tibi!"
