UPDATE: Covid 19 and The New Weddington Isles

29/6/2021

Whilst the currently unclaimed New Weddington Isles (formerly the Royal Company’s Islands, the nearest sovereign overseas territory being Tasmania, Australia, 940 miles to the northeast) remains remote and outside of international waters, pending occupation by our State Government they remain Covid free and this is likely to remain the case for the foreseeable future.

However, whilst we work towards our ultimate goal of occupation of the islands, the New Weddington Isles Government and Office of the Lord of the Manor remains located in terra aliena in the prime Administrative Consul located in Canberra, Australia.

Whilst there are no current cases of Covid in Canberra; for the purposes of consistency of approach to the Federal Government Covid strategy, any person travelling between Canberra and other States is subject to exemption and will be required to hotel quarantine for 14 days.

From Monday 28th June until further notice mask wearing is mandatory in public places, on public transport and indoor settings including retail. New Weddington Subjects are allowed to travel across the border into Canberra but not beyond, and the face mask directive applies. Medical advice can be provided via teleconference, and essential shopping will be conducted by non-contact order delivery.

Wearing of face masks will be mandatory by all those within the Consul premises during visits from third parties. Those failing to comply will be refused entry and will be subject to sanction as determined by Lord Watitune.

By order of 29th June 2021, Lord Watitune, Lord of the Manor of The New Weddington Isles.

GRAND PRINCIPALITY OF LORENZBURG CONFERS HONOUR UPON LORD WATITUNE

10/6/2021

To mark International Heraldry Day on June 10th, we are delighted to accept an honorary title and letters patent from close ally The Grand Principality of Lorenzburg.

In accepting this gesture Lord Watitune takes on the rights to use the honorific of Baron Etrangere, John Brookes von Enevann of the New Weddington Isles.

Lord Watitune said of the award: "
I am proud to accept this on behalf of the New Weddington Isles and shall bear the rank with pride. The heraldry is magnificent and highly appropriate, especially the rampant bear on sinister - the symbol of our historic manor of Warwickshire back in the UK. We consider the Principality of Lorenzburg to be an exemplar of true micronationalism - realistic yet creative, tolerant, open yet defined, and practically active whilst being so much more than a facebook page and a flag!

"HSH Prince Frei in particular has been an exemplar and an inspiration in our first year of micronational status - thus the awarding to him of our Renewal Day medal - and we look forward to forging even closer ties with the Principality to the benefit of our respective nations and micro nationalism in general. With immense gratitude, Baron Etrangere, Lordship John Brookes von Enevann of the New Weddington Isles."

His Serene Highness Prince Frei added: "On this the tenth day of June, the international heraldry day, it gives me great satisfaction to announce that our very dear friend John Watitune - Lordship of the New Weddington Isles - has been raised to the rank of honorary Baron (étrangére) in the Most Serene Principality of Lorenzburg.

"The inescutcheon is a canting arms - a wordplay on "Watitune" which in Swedish could be rendered (with a lot of imagination) into a combination of water and juniper tree, here in the name "Enevann".

"Vivat the new baron - prosit tibi!"

New Addition added to State Artefacts Collection

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of a King John silver penny, minted 1205-1216, for the New Weddington Artefacts Collection.

Whilst best known for signing the Magna Carta in 1215 - a famous document granting greater rights to the people of England and the closest the UK has to an official Constitution - King John is relevant to the Old Weddington area as historic records show the Castle there was built on the site of one of King John's Royal Hunting Lodges

The AFL league that the New Weddington Warriors Aussie Rules team compete in is on a scheduled hiatus for the next three weeks. We will be using this time to bring in new players for when league resumes.

We are also organising an exciting new project which will be carried out as a joint venture between the Principality of Sealand and the New Weddington Isles' Expeditionary Team.

We wish to extend our gratitude to Prince Michael and the government of Sealand for their direct support in this venture. Details under wraps for now but will be revealed soon!
