Mutual Recognition Treaty with the Empire of Lehmark

In June 2020, the New Weddington Isles were delighted to enter into a Treaty of Mutual Recognition with fellow micronation: The Empire of Lehmark. See full text here.

We are confident that this will form the first step of fruitful and beneficial relations between our micronations and will form an exemplar to future micronational interworking, both within our shared geography of Australasia and beyond.

World Refugee Day 2020: Live online event

The New Weddington Isles will be attending this online event. If any fellow micronations are interested in this but unable to attend, please feel free to pass on any questions you would like me to put to the panel (via Contact Us page) and I shall do be my best to facilitate this.

Whilst the issues of refugees are very much in the macro world; i do believe there is a role that can be played micronationally too - in bringing together various refugee diaspora as a virtual community despite geographical displacement. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

#BlackLivesMatter - an update from the New Weddington Isles

Further to our recent communication dated 29/5/2020: "We are delighted to have recently obtained an original antique map dating from the mid-1800s detailing both the old Manor of Weddington and its Castle and Estate buildings. This will undergo professional restoration and framing and should be completed in 3-4 weeks when I shall post high resolution scans of the finished article. Meantime, here are some low resolution images of the document."

In light of recent events in the US and Reconciliation Week here in Australia, the New Weddington Isles has decided to preserve the map 'as it' and opt for a basic but preservational frame. The $300 earmarked for restoration has been donated to the #blacklivesmatter campaign. We hope for a peaceful but productive resolution to this soon.to my post Bobby?

US Race Protests - a response from the New Weddington Isles

As a member of the Commonwealth Foundation Peoples' Forum, the New Weddington Isles has contacted the Secretariat to express our concern over the lack of any official position statement or media release regarding the current protests in the US following the death of George Floyd - and indeed the wider global implications this has highlighted around the injustice of racism.

The Commonwealth represents a huge and diverse number of people, states and organisations across the globe and its silence on this matter is could be construed as neutrality or - worse - complacency on this important matter.

We will update on their response in due course.
