We are delighted to have received a proof design image of the first coins to be issued by the Bank of New Weddington.
The laser-etched design bears a replica of a one groat coin from the era of the British King Edward I on the reverse (symbolising the historic Manor of Weddington in England upon which our new nation is founded); with the Coat of Arms of the modern-day New Weddington Isles on the front.
The New Weddington Groat is pegged in value to the Australian Dollar, whereby 1 NW Groat = 1 $AUS. The forthcoming New Weddington Pound will be equivalent to 2 New Weddington Groats.
In keeping with our environmental commitments, the coins will be made from recycled cherry wood with delivery from the manufacturer being carbon offset. Further designs and denominations for New Weddington coins and banknotes are currently in the design stage.
