On behalf of the New Weddington Isles, Lord Watitune wishes to pass on his best wishes and solidarity to all fellow micronations and their loved ones during this difficult time.
Many Micronations operate on a virtual basis, and we are fortunate as a global community to be uniquely placed to weather the storm without the health and economic concerns of physical nations. That said, we all still exist within the real world; we all have our part to play in keeping ourselves, our loved and our peoples safe and well.
This is a time of uncertainty and fear, but humanity as a whole has come through such times before and will do again. In this age of self-isolation, more and more governments and people are turning to the online social media tools that micronations have long operated on. As such we all have a duty to act not only as examples of how people can come together from across the globe for a common purpose, but as a means of escape from very real-world tragedy.
On the other hand, social media can be a haven for misinformation and fear-spreading, sometimes well-meaning, sometimes malicious. Lord Watitune urges all fellow micronational leaders to avoid the spread of such messages and to join New Weddington in urging its residents and supporters to seek and follow the official Government advice of their primary citizenship and, for a global update, the World Health Organisation website.
At present, the New Weddington Isles government continues to operate as normal from self-isolation. If any of our supporters, citizens, or fellow micronations wish to contact us for whatever reason, even just social contact, our arms are open to all during this difficult time.
Stay safe
Lord Watitune, Lord of the Manor of The New Weddington Isles
