Renewal Day 2021: A Message from Lord Watitune

PictureLord Watitune in Ceremonial Uniform
"The New Weddington Isles are a fledgling micronation, creating in response to the destruction of old Weddington manor in England - once a medieval village and Castle grounds, now a concrete housing estate. As such this provides us with both challenges and opportunities. In establishing ourselves in the micronational world stage, we recognise that we operate in a widespread, diverse and sometimes undefined global community. As such we seek to learn from both our own experiences and those of others in building the foundations of our nation on the rapidly changing platforms of the virtual word: web, social media, streaming and whatever new technologies are on the horizon. If anything, micronations are uniquely placed to take advantage of these new developments - perhaps more so than their physical macro-national counterparts.

"As well as building a global presence and network of New Weddingtonians through shared communications, initiatives and agreements; our aspirations do extend to the macro-national world to achieve the 'rebirth' of the old Weddington estate and Castle manor on our physical territory of the New Weddington Isles. We recognise that this presents huge challenges - financial, diplomatic, logistical - however no nation has ever been built with out hard work, sacrifice and, above all, a vision and a belief in what might seem an impossible task at the outset. As such our relatively new appearance on the world stage is also a unique opportunity - to determine and develop our government, aspirations and our future, unshackled by the weight of historical and restrictive political and social structures. The future truly lies in the hands of all New Weddingtonians.

"Tomorrow has indeed proved too late for much of old Weddington's heritage.  It would be tragic indeed if we were to stand by and fail to seize this unique opportunity to save what is left of that legacy and to built a new legacy, a New Weddington Isles, for future generations".
