A hard-fought round against a strong field showed up some key weaknesses in the New Weddington Warriors squad, seeing them slip from 9th to 10th in the fantasy league ladder.
The midfield in particular had a mis-firing weekend - leading to defeat and denting the Warrior’s goal of finishing in the top eight, a position which will see them enter the Grand Final stages at the end of the season.
A sports spokesperson said of the result: “we were up against a strong opponent this weekend, but that is no excuse for our defeat – the simple fact is a number of players failed to put points on the table when it mattered. We need to make sure that every one of our two weekly transfers counts now - hopefully, we can stay injury free and focus on strengthening the squad. A Grand Final place is still achievable, but every defeat sets us back.”
