After a run of close losses, the New Weddington Warriors Aussie Rules football team finally returned to winning ways, with a resounding win over “BoothysFinest”, winning by 2194 to 1291 points.
However, they remain on 10th on the League Ladder due to season points difference; still two places adrift from the 8th spot and a place in the Grand Final playoffs that decide the League winners.
A spokesperson for New Weddington Sports Department said: “Obviously any win, especially a convincing one like this one, is to be welcomed. However, with only 4 more league games before the Grand Final Elimination stages, we are paying the price on goal difference. Finishing in top 8 is still our focus now but we need to use our transfers wisely to ensure we close the all-important points difference gap – a challenge made greater by the injury loss to Scott Pendlebury, one of our top scorers.
“As the AFL Season draws to a close, we will also need to focus on our New Weddington Isles FC English Premier League team, with the season there kicking off on 17th August. For the first time we will compete in a MicroNational Football League, open exclusively to MicroNations. We have found the fielding of a micronational soccer team before to be a great way to add a sense of micronational identity and interact positively with other micronation.”
