The New Weddington Warriors Aussie Rules team are back to winning ways after a 3 week mid-season break. The return in the Cactus Cup Fantasy League saw a nail-biting affair with the Warriors hamstrung by key injuries and subbed players.
However the Warriors showed their grit, to overcome these and win by the tightest of margins – rising up to from ten to 9th in the Ladder of 20 other teams; one step away from a top eight place needed to go forward into the GRAND FINAL knockout tournament. With another eight league weekends to go there is plenty to do to reach the top 8 and we will be making full use of the 2 transfers a week allowed to strengthen the team and address low scoring members.
It’s good to be back in sporting action and once season ends we look forward to fielding our Soccer and T20 Big Bash Cricket teams, along with our Wanderers athletics team. Our Expeditionary event to scale Mount Kosciusko (the highest Mount in Australia) is still planned but is dependent on the current winter weather and Covid 19 Restrictions. More soon.
